ABSORBABLE SUTURES ITEM
Chromic Catgut suture (CC)
Absorbable Suture with Needle or without Needle
Animal originated suture twisted filament, absorbable brown color.
Obtained from the thin intestine serous layer of a healthy bovine free of BSE and aphtose fever.
Because it is an animal originated material the tissue reactivity is relatively moderated.
Absorbed by fagositosis in approximately 70 days.
The thread keeps its tensile strength between 14 and 21 days, the patientis factors can make such tensile strength times vary.
Color code: Ochre label.
Frequently used in tissues that have easy healing and that do not require permanent artificial support.
CHARACTERISTICS
High purity collagen beetween 97 and 98%
Chroming process before twisting it.
Uniform calibration and polishing (monofilament appearance).
Sterilized by Gamma rays of Cobalt 60.

Minimum tissue reaction
Uniform chroming along the thread length, providing a reliable tissue support during the absorption.
Provides soft way through the tissues (minimizing tissue drag).

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Since its a natural origin suture, it should not be used when the tissue support for an extended period of time is needed.

Caution most be taken when used in ederly, malnourishedor deficient immunology system patients, in wich the critical cicatrization period of the wound may be delayed. Knowing these factors, the surgeon can use it upon his7her discretion.
